“G. Orwell wrote the book 1984 in 1949, and was predicting 35 years in to the future. 35 years in to the future from 1984 is 2019. The first portion of project consisted of collecting objects from the year 1984 in an attempt to create a connection to that year. These objects along w work on the theme of 1984 by other artists were displayed at a pop up event. The film ball being an object created in 1984 (a solid ball of film made from 35mm scraps and found footage). It being displayed 35 years later along w a collection of objects form the same year and physical meditations on the themes of 80’s era flavor blended w dystopian elements, solidified the creation of a wormhole between 2019 and 1984. The initial interest in the year came before discovering the overwhelming math, it was based in the idea that we are already existing in a dystopian future, and that although it might not be as pervasive as some depictions of one can be, it is very much real for a lot of people as they live out unjust and terrible situations.”
